The Conversation Continues

Dear Kim,
I'm a 51 y/o retired nurse and Army wife. We live in Manhattan, KS where my husband is on faculty at the Veterinary College after 28 years in the Army. I haven't found my "role" yet and I have to tell you that in constantly combing through books at the library. I picked up your book the other day and have not been able to put it down. It has helped me so much to get out of my sweats and evaluate my closet. I just had to say thank you for writing such an honest and helpful book. You are an inspiration and I had to tell you that you have had an impact on me. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Linda Cates

"Kim, I can't tell you how much I needed this book. I am a 5 year breast cancer survivor who has had 5+ unsuccessful reconstruction surgeries. I also have MS. My body could not be more out of whack. Now for the first time in 5 years, I am excited about my closet and no longer feel complete panic at the thought of going out in public. Just last night I "shopped" my closet for an October wedding and have more than one choice I am happy with. Thank you for your wonderful book. All my girlfriends are getting it for Christmas!" Cathy B.

"Dear Kim,
We have a lot in common, I've got an alien living with me too! Your book helps me laugh, while feeling more at peace with mother nature and the aging process."

There are many fabulous ideas and time-tested truths in What to Wear for the Rest of Your Life, however, the quote on page 223 by Katharine Hepburn is one of my favorites, "I'll get married when I decide to give up the admiration of many men for the criticism of one." Ain't that the truth!"

"If anyone can give fashion advice to women of every age and shape, it's Gross, cocreator of the "Chic Simple" series and designer of many television makeovers. She helps the reader assess her own closet, physical assets, and desired appearance; gives suggestions for how to achieve the look she wants; and offers advice on jewelry, hair color/style, and age-appropriate choices.

Throughout the text, Gross inserts comments from a wide range of women discussing their own struggles with body flaws and aging issues. Browsable, comprehensive, and extremely helpful for the over-40 woman who wants to look her best."

"I just wanted to just say hi and to tell you that your book is wonderful. I'm so glad you wrote this, finally a book for women like me who have been invaded by the alien. :)

I can relate to the things that have happened to you, and the advice you give on learning to live with a body that suddenly seems to want to go its own way, not yours. After all I live in L.A. which has got to be the "thin is in" fashion capital of the world where women my age tend to hire personal trainers and plastic surgeons by the boatload. I choose not to go that route, but still it pains me when the salesgirl blithely tells me, "Oh, I'm so glad you found something that fits!"

Wishing you success in all your ventures and I hope I'll see more books from you in the future." Myra, Los Angeles

Kim, It is just so good and real and charming and honest and so very, very compassionate and helpful and did I say funny....... You are really something unbelievably special! ML, Maine

Your book is hard to put it down! I love the anecdotes from all the women and connect with so many of them. Makes me realize that even though our lives may be different, we women of a certain age face the same uncertainties, questions and fears. Your personal history woven throughout makes it feel very intimate. I appreciate how courageous you've been to share with us. It's very positive.

Am making a list of some of the tips to either buy or look for in my drawers and closets. I found a leather jacket in my closet that I have not been wearing because it didn't feel right. Your book inspired me to take off the belt loops and not wear the belt with it. It's now one of my favorites. Your book helps us look at things differently and wear things in a new way. I keep wanting to go into my closet and find more " new/old" favorites. Thanks. Marylyn, Boise
